michael & maggie // boulder, colorado

I once told Maggie I think she is the sweetheart of First Pres Boulder, the church where we both work. When I first started there, every single person on staff asked me, "Caroline, have you met Maggie yet? You'll love her. She's wonderful." I soon found out that every single person on staff was absolutely right. This rare, extraordinary beauty orbits all around her and within her. I was at a women's retreat last year, and the speaker -- who lives in California -- called her out in the crowd for being unforgettable. For anyone that knows this girl, you know that Maggie is anything but forgettable. She plays piano like a boss. She wears chique, adorable outfits daily. She is wise beyond her years. She makes you (me?) feel hilarious by laughing at your (my?) crazy/silly/goofiness. She speaks with truth and discernment, and I don't even know if she realizes it. She is humble and strikingly beautiful. One of the first times I met Michael was at our wedding (really, it was the day after, when Joe and I happened to stumble upon this lovely couple in the town of Grand Lake). I don't know Michael as well as I know Maggie since he doesn't live in Colorado (yet...please?!) but I could instantly see his kindness and his care for her. Even in this short time, I already know Michael is a man of integrity and a man of compassion. What I wasn't prepared for was a whole afternoon of him telling Maggie jokes/laughing at her jokes during the shoot. Seriously, these two sat on rocks and tree stumps and dirt and laughed at each other all day. I realllly like the way they love each other. And can I just be really corny for a second? From the moment I saw these two together, I started counting down the days until I could jump up and down at the news of their engagement. Now, I get to count down the days until their wedding. It's unreal. Michael, Maggie, I am so excited for you. Your love for one another and for the Lord is truly restorative. By that, I mean it reconfirms my belief in marriage and in God's provision for our lives. You were made for each other, and it's pretty obvious. Michael, you may not be a sweetheart like Maggie (because that would be a little weird) but you have a pure heart. Just like Maggie.P.S. Michael, you told me you would be wearing leggings during this shoot so your grandkids in 20 years would be able to see photos of you and make fun of you. Since you didn't come through for your engagement shoot, it's only fair that you wear them during your wedding. Just saying.
