Ian & Allison // Engaged // Downtown Denver, Colorado

Ian & Allison share one of the coolest love stories I know. When they first got engaged, they had been dating for about a year, but realized they needed to take a step back and keep dating for a while. About a year later, Allison felt like they were ready, and when she told Ian, he didn't hesitate to ask her again. Like right then. That very second. Their story really rocks my world. It shows how much they truly value marriage. In a day and age where people date for a few minutes and get married in a blitz, I wonder if sometimes it would be better to slow things down and truly invest in spending time knowing the insides and outsides and frontsides and backsides and sidesides -- all sides -- of your partner. Especially, when the permanence of marriage sinks in. The foreverness. The endlessness. Because ready or not, it will come. When Allison and Ian knew they were ready, they jumped in. Well, the jumped off. Off a slope, that is. On Valentine's Day, they drove up to Loveland and signed their wedding license with dozens of other couples in the mountains (free day of skiing, yeah!). They love skiing, they love the outdoors, they love each other & Allison wanted to change her name before she starts teaching this year... so why not? It might have been a two-year ride up the ski lift, but the ride down the mountain was smooth and beautiful and so them. These two taught me so much about the rewards and joy of patience-- they would... those teachers...  Thanks, guys, for reminding me of the significance and the joy of marriage.  I can't wait to celebrate with you this summer at your ceremony & party in the mountains.
